Crisis and resources

Cocoon Therapy is not a crisis service. This website and our voicemail are not monitored around the clock, so please don't use them for anything urgent.

If you are in crisis

Call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time. If you or someone else is in danger, including thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you are pregnant or have a new baby

The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline answers by call or text, any time, in English and Spanish, at 1‑833‑TLC‑MAMA. For heavy bleeding, severe pain or any worry about your health or your baby's, call your doctor or midwife, or go to the emergency room.

Support between sessions

Postpartum Support International lists online and local groups for parents at postpartum.net.

If you are a client

Dr. Newsome returns messages during office hours. If you are worried about how you feel between sessions, tell her at your next session and make a plan together for what to do.

What Cocoon Therapy does not do

Dr. Newsome is a psychologist. She doesn't prescribe medication, give medical or obstetric advice or write reports for courts, and the practice can't respond in an emergency. For any of these, start with your doctor or the emergency room.
