Services and what to expect

Each is one-on-one, fifty minutes, in person or by video. Dr. Newsome sets the pace with you.

Anxiety and overwhelm

For parents whose mind won't quiet down. Sessions mix talking with practice: noticing where worry shows up in the body and trying ways to settle it between visits.

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy

  • Mindfulness-based practices

  • Not medication or medical care

  • No set number of sessions

Grief and loss

For a pregnancy lost, a birth that didn't go as hoped, or a death close to the baby's arrival. Sessions leave room for what you feel without steering you toward feeling differently.

  • Meaning-making and remembrance work

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Not a replacement for a support group, though it can sit beside one

  • No set number of sessions

Low mood and exhaustion

For parents who feel flat, weighed down or far from themselves. Sessions look at what keeps you stuck and try small, doable steps.

  • Behavioral activation

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy

  • Not a substitute for seeing your doctor or midwife about your mood

  • No set number of sessions

Your relationship

For parents working out who does what, who sleeps and who feels seen. Sessions are for you, and a partner may join some of them if you both want that.

  • Attachment-informed conversation

  • Communication practice

  • Not couples therapy; partners can have sessions of their own

  • No set number of sessions

How this is paid

Who you are now

For parents facing leave, a return to work, a changed body or a new sense of self. Sessions give the in-between a place to be talked about.

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Values-based reflection

  • Not career coaching

  • No set number of sessions

Three questions about services

Can I bring my baby?

Yes. Feeding or soothing a baby during a session is fine, and many parents come with the baby for the first weeks.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Dr. Newsome is a psychologist. If medication might help, she can talk with you about whom to ask, such as your doctor or midwife.

How do I know which service fits?

You don't have to. Most parents bring a mix of these, and we begin wherever feels most pressing. You can change course at any time.

Ready to take a first step?

Send a message, and Dr. Newsome will reply during office hours.
