How fees work
Cocoon Therapy is out of network. Here is how paying works, in the order parents tend to ask.
Insurance we work with
Cocoon Therapy is out of network. We don't bill insurance directly, and we don't bill Medicare or Medicaid. Many plans with out-of-network benefits reimburse part of a session, and your plan decides what it pays.
Most PPO plans may reimburse out-of-network sessions
Medicare and Medicaid: not billed
If you pay yourself
You pay at each session by card, and HSA and FSA cards work too. Before we begin you get the fee in writing. A few spots at a reduced fee may be open, so ask when you write. Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel; a later cancellation is charged the session fee.
Receipts for reimbursement
Each month you can have an itemized receipt, called a superbill, to send to your plan. It carries a diagnosis code, which your insurer sees. Whether your plan reimburses, and how much, is up to the plan, and we can't promise it will.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what care will cost before you start, and we give you one in writing. If a bill comes in $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
Checking your benefits
We don't check your benefits for you. Before your first session, call the number on your insurance card and ask these three questions.
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
Is there a deductible, and how much of it has been met?
What share of the fee does the plan reimburse?
